Whether you are going south, to Europe, or in a cabin for a few days, continuing your weight loss process while traveling can seem hard. Here are a few tips that will certainly help you maintain your weight and continue your weight loss process.
Breakfast, lunch, supper
When traveling, most hotels include breakfast, so take advantage of it! Take the time to eat properly in the morning, and this meal will support you during a good part of the day. Make healthy and nutritive choices. Refer to Vanessa’s article (French only) Comment dé « jeuner » for help. Regarding lunch, have a light meal while respecting the principles of the healthy plate. And since supper is often the high point of the night when traveling, the best advice to follow is simply to listen to your hunger and satiety signals! Finally, even though I know that it’s hard to keep control during a vacation, what will do the most difference is your capacity to avoid alcohol. Too often we forget that cocktails, beer, wine and other drinks contain a lot of calories.
Stay active
No need to run a marathon or perform 2-hour workouts to feel the benefits of physical activity on your body. Aim for 30 minutes a day of light activity that creates a slight shortness of breath. Walking, running, and performing various activities will make you discover more places, and appreciate your travel even more. If your destination doesn’t allow for physical activities, it is always possible to exercise in your room! There are plenty of ways to exercise in a limited space with your bodyweight (pushups, situps, squats, holding the chair position, etc.). You could even ask your personal trainer to make you a plan adapted to your travel.
Don’t forget that vacation doesn’t necessarily rime with gaining weight. By making informed choices and integrating physical activity, you will succeed in your weight loss process!
Have a great vacation!
