Time to Take Action!

November 19, 2013 - By Nautilus Plus

Temps de lecture 3 minutes

What do you think is the most common mistake among new members of fitness centers? Changing too many habits, too quickly? Too much training? Not enough? Bad execution form? Stop looking, what I am identifying as a mistake is much more fundamental. People have a hard time living and accepting the present moment. I picture you frowning already. Dont worry, explanations will follow.

Often, we can categorize most new members into three categories:

1. Those who regret their past behaviour and make it a constant preoccupation.

2. Those who only think of the final and who, consequently, are bound to experience frustration by comparing themselves to what they would like to be, expecting the road to be long, or even seeing the objective as unattainable.

3. Those who do both!

I agree that it is not easy to put the past aside or accept temporary results between your present condition and your ultimate goal. By the way, setting objective is very healthy, just as it can be normal to regret things you did in the past. This being said, keep in mind that in order to have more chances or reaching your goals, you need to drop these habits (1-2-3) quickly so that you act in the now. The real question should be to ask yourself what can you do TODAY to come closer to your objective. Not talking too much about it or having regrets. And each action counts!

Those of you who got their body composition assessment in a Nautilus Plus center have most likely experienced the famous bio-impedance scale, which analyses body composition. And you know what is the universal reaction? Every overweight person fears seeing the extent of the damage done, and even being judged by their trainer. Live in the present. Accept the results. They are only the expression of your present situation, nothing more. Also, there is no such result as one that could scare a trainer, and the reason for that is simple. We are only guides to help you in your quest. Our objective is to take you right where you are and take you forward as much as possible, one step at a time.

You probably know about the “You are here” on orientation maps? No one can deny that when you read the map, you really are “here”, regardless of where you come from and where you want to go. The same goes for physical activity. Regardless of your current level and how long you have been training, the moment you decide to move, you really are “here”, along with your current strengths and weaknesses. Accept this.

And then all we will be able to say about you is that in addition to being here, you will be making a step in the right direction! Well played!

Enjoy,
