Just as in many aspects of life, wanting to set new training challenges and objectives is normal. These goals enable us to progress and evolve. However, to be able to succeed, it is necessary to take the time to plan ahead and assess the effort that will be required. If you want to run a marathon or an Ironman, to lose weight, to run five kilometers, or to climb a mountain, you have to make changes in your daily routine.
Adjust your priorities
When training toward a precise objective, the priority order has to be modified. Reaching your objective should be as unavoidable to you as going to work is. This way, you will have more means available, and will invest more energy into reaching your big objectives! Maybe you should switch some of your activities with friends with training sessions!
Change your habits
Some habits will have to be reviewed, such as training frequency, nutrition, sleep, etc. But do not lose your head by trying to change everything all at once! Small, gradual modifications are easier to maintain than radical changes.
Plan your activities
The accomplishment of a personal challenge requires preparation. This is why it is important to plan your training sessions. If you have no structure, it will be much harder to stay motivated. Plan your workouts on a calendar, or count the days before each activity! These small tips will remind you the importance of your objective, and motivate you to continue your activities on a daily basis. Sometimes, it can be hard to know how much time should be dedicated to training, or which exercises to perform to be sure to reach our objectives. This is why asking for help from a personal trainer makes sense, so do not hesitate to consult with a personal trainer to create a realistic plan of action.
In summary, to prepare for big objectives it is necessary to be ready to modify your usual activities, to review your priorities, and most of all, to have fun along the way! Preparation can be as stimulating as reaching the goal itself!
