If you’re a fan of lobster rolls and are looking for a quick and economical version, here it is! This recipe for crab rolls brings us back to the seaside, even if you’re in the city!
You can easily double or triple the recipe if you’re entertaining a crowd. It’s a great alternative to the summer hot dog dinners. The concoction can be prepped ahead of time and will keep well in the fridge for a few days.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 8 hot dog buns
- 8 large lettuce leaves of your choice
- Two packages crab flavoured pollock – 227g each
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) mayonnaise
- 10 ml (2 tsp) Dijon mustard
- Fresh chives, finely chopped, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 16 small dill pickles
Preparation
- In a bowl, shred the crab flavoured pollock by hand to desired size.
- Add all ingredients except bread, lettuce and pickles to the crab and mix well.
- After grilling the hot dog buns in a pan or on the barbecue, top with a lettuce leaf and the crab mixture.
- Serve with a side of 4 small dill pickles.
